IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 03/17/2020:

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce that the 2020 Annual Carthage Buggy Festival is being cancelled. The decision was not an easy one, but it seems to be the safest and most responsible thing to do. Governor Roy Cooper has mandated that assemblies of more than (10) people be cancelled. Even today, there might be another announcement and order that restaurants close their dining areas. While, we LOVE our hometown festival, it would not be fiscally responsible to invite vendors to attend without a strong attendance. And we certainly do not want to encourage the spread of the virus by congregating thousands of people. No one knows how long the virus will be active or how widespread the virus will become; but in this case, we have to err on the side of caution.

If you applied to be a vendor, I will be mailing your payments back to you. If you sent in sponsorship funds, I will be contacting you to coordinate reimbursement.

At this time, there is no plan to reschedule the festival. The summer is typically too hot and the Town already hosts a fall festival and the Christmas Parade.

The best thing that we can all do during this time is follow the guidelines that are being provided by the local, state and federal authorities.  Please try not to panic, but prepare. Hopefully, this will all be a memory in a few months. We hope that everyone stays safe and healthy!

 Carthage Buggy Festival

Started in 1989, the Carthage Buggy Festival is a celebration of the rich history of Carthage, North Carolina. The Buggy Festival is held each year to commemorate the famous Tyson and Jones Buggy Factory that, from the mid-1800's to the 1920's, produced the carriages that were essential to life in rural North Carolina. On Saturday, May 9, 2020, the 32nd Annual Carthage Buggy Festival will be held in Carthage, located eight miles north of Pinehurst in the Sandhills region of North Carolina, and it promises to be the biggest and best yet. With an annual attendance of approximately 20,000, the Buggy Festival has grown into one of the biggest and best known festivals in the region.
